Almost all the countries have their embassies in Nigeria especially in Lagos state and Abuja while their consulates in different 36 states of the federation. Each embassy has its own visa application requirements and conditions. Though, they are somehow similar. In applying for a visa, you are required personally to present the original copies of the following documents;

• Admission letter from the institution
• Credentials
• Specified passport size photograph
• Passport
• Up to date tax clearance
• Statement of bank account
• Insurance coverage
• Accommodation
• Flight ticket
• Application fee

Students are required to pay at least part-payment of their school fees except those on full scholarship. Students are also interviewed basically on the language of the host institution. The person must not be an ex-convict in which his or her record counts. This is more complicated when a student wish to go with the family which is on a rare situation. Such a student must have the proof of such an invitation in which all the requirements stated above has to be provided to include the family. Many evidences are required to convince the embassy of being capable of providing for the family comfort. Family book as well as marriage certificate has to be included.

However, the provision of these required documents does not automatically guarantee you a visa. The decision of the embassy determines. At this juncture, the help of the host university is needed to facilitate the issuance of visa.
